This project changes a lot of things. I’m really glad that this subject is compulsory to all UM’s students. It challenge our class’s teamwork, bonding, understanding, empathy and of course, our knowledge. Not only that, as individuals it challenge our patience, limitation, ego, and our time management. Social Engagement is not just a platform for us to reach out to community, but to strengthen our bonding as a classmate and family.

Before we go too deep, let’s first, read about my experience. The idea emerges when we’re a week away from our final examination for our first semester. That last class of the semester, Dr Rosila Bee said “Don’t forget to submit your proposal for social engagement’s subject ye. If you can give me the proposal before your semester break, that would be great!”. That to me is like a big slap to my face because I thought we should take this subject when we’re in second year. So, I have to think fast because I know my class would not want to discuss anything else besides matter related to our final exams.
So, I’ve decided to ask the director of REAL’2017 from 3rd residential college to collaborate with us, ANSOS 16/17 batch (anthropology sociology). From there, we’ve had countless meetings just to satisfy both party’s needs and requirements.

All these experiences really sharpens my public relation and leadership skills. I also learn a lot of things. Such as I should really try to depend on people too sometimes and never assume one’s capability, hence test them ;) Besides, there are also the things that I wish would change or should not do. For example, we didn’t really conduct proper ice-breaking which then divides us into three teams (AnSos+REAL+participant). It should be all in one big team.
In a nutshell, Alhamdulillah most of the things I’ve projected and expected turns into reality. This is all because of everyone’s support and willingness to make this project happen. Without them (classmate), we wouldn’t come this far. I’m really proud of them and grateful to be a part of AnSos 16/17’s family.

The part that I love the most is when I can use my experience, and everything that I am to contribute to the development of the project and our bonding.
