From the very beginning, I knew that
joining this trip will teach me a lot of things and experience different things
that I usually do in my everyday routine. Somehow, this trip opens up my eyes
to see a community that many people chose to ignore. For example, I never went
to a real village before this but through this trip, I could personally
experience the real life in the village. I can see the villagers’ interaction
towards each other is definitely different from the place I live. At home, I
never interested to know who my neighbours are and this makes me feel so
selfish in the sense that my family and I only care about our life and never
interested in joining community activities or having a conversation with them.
Secondly,
learning that their nearest school or shops are a few kilometres away and how
it is hard for them to find transportation to take them outside of the village.
This definitely made me thinking about my life that my place has a great access
to anywhere I want to go and I took it for granted. But seeing these kids going
to school by walking make me realized I should be lucky enough that my parents
can afford a car to send me to school just a stone’s away from my house and yet
I still complained about my life.
Thirdly, I learned that you do not need
money to be happy. My 3 days trip taught me a lot about happiness without I
realized it. Everywhere I turned I saw
kids playing with their friends happily. The villagers did not need gadgets to
make their day meaningful or a big house to feel their life is complete. All
they need is people around them like the kids need friends to play with and
talk to while the parents just need helps from each other. And I can experience
and saw it with my own eyes that you do need a luxury conditions to be happy
and definitely, no amount of happiness can be bought through money.
