ANSOS meets REAL

On 22nd February, ANSOS and REAL had their first meeting together at the 3rd Residential College, in order to introduce the participants to each other as well as to answer any questions we had about the program. During this meeting, we were introduced to the heads of the different bureaus within the REAL.

As there was less than a month for the program, we had to begin our preparation ASAP. With the directors and assistant directors overlooking the bureaus, all the members got to work.

"My Dream" slot

As the majority of the activities were going to be carried out by REAL, the only activity that was assigned to ANSOS was the ‘My Dream’ slot. The activity bureau brainstormed among the members to come up with activities suitable for the young children, while also making sure the objective of the slot would be achieved.

The bureau also prepared all the materials needed for the activities with the help from Special Tasks bureau. Two test runs were conducted, one with only ANSOS members and the final one on 15th March 2017 with the REAL members.

Sponsorships

As we were warned that there may not be water in the village, one of our biggest concerns was getting sponsorships for mineral water. We approached many stores and companies, and managed to get sponsorships from several residential colleges, KPS as well as other places within UM.

We also tried to find monetary sponsorships to cover the expenses of the program, but due to the lack of time to process our proposal, most places declined. However, we did manage to receive a sponsorship of RM400 from one company, as well as donations from relatives which helped a lot.

We also received a donation of 100 children's books from SunMag book store to gift to the village children during the "My Dream" slot.

After the initial meeting with REAL, we had several other meetings to practice our slots, discuss the logistics as well as to practice a dance that we were supposed to perform at the village.
